We proudly introduce the Youth Bands Program. We are a non-profit music education organisation and we currently offer an intermediate standard wind symphonic band; the John Mallinson Youth Band (AMEB grade 4-5 or equivalent). Depending on numbers, we also train the Wilf Dyason Wind Ensemble (AMEB grade 2-3 or equivalent). These symphonic bands offer solo opportunities and both chamber ensembles and jazz combos are drawn from our members. We also provide an opportunity for outside musicians and vocalists to work with highly proficient backing groups and for trainee conductors and sectional tutors to rehearse and work with us. We aim to provide young people with a high level of music education, experience, exposure and enjoyment. Our goal is to compliment and develop current music education within schools and to provide young musicians with a rich environment in which to expand their talents.

Broad ensemble experience and exposure is essential in developing young musicians.  Our program seeks to offer a high standard of sectional tuition and regular master classes with high profile musicians.  As a result of these exciting and diverse experiences, young musicians will develop and flourish within the Youth Bands Program. We offer a variety or performance opportunities throughout the year, with at least one performance each term. We have a biennial music camp and have in the past taken workshops with the Melbourne International Festival of Brass. Our members have also been called upon to supplement other bands and orchestras in their musical endeavours. Our aim is to develop active relationships within the wider community.  Please enjoy the photos and sound clips available. We look forward to you joining us soon.
